RMA is the process for returning faulty equipment to a manufacturer or authorized service provider under warranty. For a large ASIC fleet, the complete cycle matters: fault registration, serial-number identification, removal, diagnostics, approval, logistics and recommissioning.
What to record before service
Keep the serial number, model, firmware, hashrate history, temperatures and errors before removing a miner. Link every device to its rack position. This record helps distinguish a hashboard, PSU, cooling or configuration issue.
Warranty and post-warranty repair
During warranty, the manufacturer or supplier defines authorized work. After warranty, compare repair cost, component availability and the remaining life of the model. Diagnostic scope, approval limits and return-to-service criteria should be agreed before work starts.
How to assess service quality
Check whether devices are tracked by serial number, diagnostic reports are issued, repair is approved in advance and the miner is load-tested afterwards. B2B fleets also need clear status reporting and one owner for movement between the data center, workshop and external service.
Service is part of fleet economics
Downtime, logistics and repeat failures affect returns as much as the repair invoice. Plan spare devices and parts, priorities, approval limits and failure reporting as part of the operating model.
